Sora Pool Club

Philadelphia, PA

Built in 1950, Presidential City echoes Le Corbusier's "Towers in the Park" conception of the modern city. Amenities rare elsewhere in the city, such as car parks and swimming pools, were offered to new residents. After half a century, Presidential City had fallen into disrepair. Like many other "Towers in the Park", the complex lacked cohesive social spaces and urban connectivity. When the complex was bought for redevelopment, it became clear that change was needed. The Sora Pool Club is part of the overall strategy to revitalize Presidential City. The design focuses on creating a respite from the stresses of modern life, with spaces for both individual relaxation and dynamic social interaction.
