Lafayette Hill Residence

Lafayette Hill, PA

The landscape design for this residence sought to aesthetically and ecologically recreate stormwater systems on a site recently disrupted by construction. Native plantings were introduced to mitigate the prior disturbance and provide habitat for indigenous birds and other local fauna. A stormwater swale formed the backbone upon which the additional amenities were situated. Gentle manipulation of the grades and low retaining walls created definition of the outdoor rooms which included intimate dining terraces, the rustic pool area and vegetable gardens, and a natural playscape for the client’s two young children to spend more time outdoors, connecting with and learning from nature.
